Warren Cluster

The Warren Cluster is a regional sub division of Lutheran congregations in the Northwestern Pennsylvania Synod.  The cluster has eight congregations with seven congregations in Warren County and one congregations just outside the western border of the county.

Conversations have been on-going regarding shared ministry among some of the cluster congregations.  Current ministries shared among most cluster congregations are:

  • Vacation Bible School
  • Stephen Ministry
  • Annual cluster picnic
  • Special worship services and events

Partnership with St. John's Lutheran Church

200 Pleasant Avenue

Warren, PA  16365

Beginning in 2011 until May, 2015, First Lutheran Church had been providing pastoral care and support for the community at St. John's.  Due to a transition in pastoral leadership, this arrangement has changed and St. John's and Bethany (Sheffield) have an interim pastor.  First and St. John's congregations share historical ties.

Conversations regarding the establishment of a Lutheran community in Pleasant Township began in 1949. A community survey indicated such a need existed.  By 1951, First Lutheran's council authorized the purchase of two lots along Pleasant Drive for the purpose of building a church.  A few years later the first worship services were held in the Grange Hall. The congregation was organized at a special service at First Lutheran on September 9, 1956 and the name of St. John's Lutheran Church was officially selected.  The first pastor of St. John's shared his time between the two congregations.

St. John's celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday at 9:30am.

Partnership with Bethany Lutheran Church

110 Church Street

Sheffield, PA  16347

bethany013Beginning January 2013, First Lutheran Church has been providing  pastoral care and support for the community at Bethany.  Again, in April, we transitioned out of this arrangement and Bethany and St. John's has an interim pastor now.

Bethany was founded in 1882 by Swedish Immigrants.  The congregation was originally yoked with Moriah Lutheran Church, Ludlow, PA for 130 years.

The members of Bethany celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday at 11:15am. Sunday School is held September through May at 9:45am.
